    Not Quite the Orient Express

A travel blog entry by dorothy73 on Sep 01, 2014

... we did manage it and, as it turned out, the train was 20 mins.late so we had plenty of time. The next train was an inter-city express and, although not small compartments, was still very comfortable with plenty of leg room and wide seats. We were now travelling south/south east. We met up with other Ozzies from SA who had done the Rhine River Cruise. Now moved away from towns and into ...

    Day 34: Bikes and Beer

A travel blog entry by flahivemo on Jun 08, 2014

... this bike tour was going to be fun. Our guides were two young, quite fortunate looking guides, one from New Zealand and the other from the UK. We got our bikes and started our ride around the city. Making stops at some of the big sites so that they could give us a few quick facts about the place but nothing too mind numbingly boring. ... me the suggestion of going to a beer garden called Augustiner Keller, which turned out to be way better than the touristy Hofbrauhaus. I was responsible for bringing the food and drinks over from the ordering counter and I was laughing so hard when the smallest size beer was a huge Stein and the pretzels were big enough to strangle someone. There must have been over a thousand people in the beer garden and it was definitely one of the most awesome ...

... hall and this is where we were introduced to the chickens. They were absolutely delightful. I have never tasted a chicken quite like it before.

We ended our night in Schottenhamel with a few steins and lots of dancing on tables. It is definitely where all the young people hang out and where the party happens late into the evening. I think it is the hall that is open the latest as well. It was loads of fun. Serah and I had to assist Ray and Lima walking ...
