I have to admit I was nervous when I dialed the number to my Dutch relatives. I thought will they know who I am? Will they be able to speak English? What will we do when we get there? Am I Dutch enough? Silly, Silly thoughts and then the call was placed.

Another Week in the Cold

That night, after some drinks and homemade pepernoten (becoming super Dutch), we headed out to the city. On the way back, in our drunken stooper it snowed pretty heavily, heavily enough for me to make a snow angel like a proper noob.
I am continually amazed by the beauty that is the architecture of Holland, and the magic touch of the snow.

... today" makes me smile. Thank you Germany for the cheap wodka and useless 1 euro cent coins too.
The history of Europe has me intrigued also. Most of the buildings surrounding me were built before Australia was even colonised. We also visited Bourtange, a city that originally separated the main road from Groningen to Germany, where I saw my first Dutch windmill!
Next week Paris, come at me!

Dag voor vertrek
Lieve allemaal,
Morgen is het dan zover: het begin van mijn 3,5-maanden durende rondreis door Zuid-Amerika!
Om 12.25u zal ik vertrekken vanaf Schiphol, om vervolgens een kleine 13 uur later te landen in Lima (Peru), waar mijn reis zal beginnen.
Om het thuisfront enigszins op de hoogte te houden van mijn avonturen heb ik deze blog aangemaakt. Ik zal proberen hier regelmatig een stukje te schrijven!

Het grote inpakavontuur
... week hebben we dus volgepland en een vast hostel waar we in slapen met de hele groep. Deze laatste dagen hier vul ik met het regelen van alles en nog wat, papierwerk, de laatste vaccinaties voor de tijd in Indonesië en Thailand. En het alvast inpakken van m'n backpack om te kijken hoe dat allemaal moet. Dit inpakken is nog een hele opgave gister is er gelukt om de tas tot 20 kilo te vullen het valt ...
