You come over a rise to be met by the ruins of Ujazd. This huge palace was built around 400 years ago and it spreads over a couple of acres. Made of the local stone, it had five storeys, several wings and a large, round, end tower, with the well at the bottom of it.

... hill. It is rocky underfoot, and lined with little shrines. We walked down for about half an hour, before deciding to climb back up to Święty Krzyż. Well, I don't know about my Krzyż, but the rest of me was certainly Święty by the time we reached the top.

Once again, being lazy tourists, we took a horse and cart back down. I felt quite sorry for the horse. It was thirsty and needed re-shoeing, I noticed, as we were trotting back down to the car.
