I highly recommend Karlsruhe as a really nice, relaxed place to visit (not just because of the pizza) and somewhere that is a nice mix of big city and the calmness of a town. There were lots of things we didn’t have time to see, especially in the surrounding mountain areas…so….we can come back (not just because of the pizza ...

... hard to resist so I didn’t! And the wurst was rather good.

Returning to the Rhein valley and it was obvious that the narrow picturesque charm was now an open sprawling plain and the journey was more agricultural / suburban. The journey also featured near motorway and closed roads. The latter making the GPS work a bit harder.
However I reached the planned destination about 2pm so decided to see if it was worth pushing on. ...
