Dinner tonight is in their French restaurant. We are welcomed by an English speaking waiter from Sri Lanka. Knowing he would have English speaking guests, he had kindly translated tonight's menu into English and printed it out for us. The food is surprisingly delicious and beautifully plated, you don't quite expect a French chef in a family type resort in Kusatsu. As it turns out the chef had worked at the embassy in Italy which explains it ...

We board the Hokuriko Shinkansen to Nagano at Tokyo Station. The Hokuriko Line was launched March 14, 2015, and connects Tokyo to Kanazawa. After the train arrives in Tokyo from Kanazawa a cleaning crew boards the train to clean it before passengers are allowed to enter. ... stopped at a supermarket and we're blown away at how cheap fruit/vegetables, meat and fresh sashimi fish is. No wonder the Japanese eat so well. The temple and shrines were beautiful but it was pretty cold walking around. Another train for about 40 minutes and we arrived at Shiga Kogen where we are staying at a beautiful ryokan with our own private onsen bath outside in the snow. Time for some rest and ...

... Hot bath). When we got changed in our bathers we went in and walked into what seemed to be just smoke and you couldn’t see 5metres in front of you. It was very relaxing and definitely helped with my injury. The Onsen was about 39 degrees and right next to it was a freezing cold pool that looked like it has not been used in a while because it was covered in ice and snow. Talia and I were dipping our toes and fingers in the cold pool and as soon ...
