... at the JR train station the tourist information staff showed me a sign saying that 200 metres up the road is another tourist information with English speaking staff. For ordering a meal in a restaurant it was crucial that they have pictures on their menu. Paying in a super market meant handing over notes with both hands, nod and smile to what they say. The ogres of Hanamatsuri are awed as avatars by locals (but the actors were being teased, when they appeared) and Yamami Ogre in the left picture is one of them. When I was taking a picture of the ogre, a local spectator kindly taught me how to take a good picture of ogres. (What do you think of the picture?) I really appreciate his kindness.

It was very cold and supposed to snow on the day, according to the weather forecast, so I didn't felt like going out. On the other hand, however, I had only limited number of days left to travel in Japan and I didn't have time to hesitate. I chose Okazaki as my destination for the day and left home at eight thirty.
