Today was the longest day (both in terms of miles covered and travel time) we had planned for our whole trip. Its a 4 hour bus ride from Tokyo to Nagano. We take the bus over the train, as the Shinkansen is not cheap, and i have never driven on the roads in Japan, so it will be a good experience. The bus is as punctual as the train and departs on time to the minute. The drive has plenty of beautiful country side and snow capped alps. We one stop once at a rest stop for 15 minutes, which is enough to stretch the legs. The driver tells us ...

The hotel at the airport was, well an airport hotel so not much write home about… but Japan on the other hand…

Simon who was the father of the Australian family gave us a tip that the 3hr private lesson was the same price as 2 kids at ski school for 4 hours so we booked up a lesson and headed up the valley to Iniwate. Adam was a real cool instructor. He was an engineer in the Yukon but during the winter not much happens so he agrees unpaid leave with his company and does a 3 month ski season somewhere ...
