Boquete to Costa Rica

... from the airport, convenient for Rebecca to catch her flight this a.m. Then we walked to the Mall, got some food and decided to see a movie! What better way to spend our last night together?! It was in English (plus) but the theater was about 5000 degrees (minus) and the movie wasn't that great..romantic comedy called "The Ugly Truth".

I woke up this morning at 5am (2 days in a row!) gathered my things, said goodbye to Rebecca and hopped in a taxi to catch the ...

... don´t have to even travel into the depths of the jungle as one day we spotted a sloth in the trees outside out hostal. He didn´t see to mind being photographed and even came right up towards us. He moved surprisingly quickly. The weather was so miserable and many activites so expensive we decided just to try some ziplining and treking through one of the reserves. The ziplining facility was high up in the ...

The forest is also home to many of the 40,000-60,000 species of mushrooms native to Costa Rica. According to our guide, every one of those species is edible, but some only once (har, har.)

... supermarket last evening and it was on a par with anything in the States or Europe. My eyes were on stalks. I was hoping to visit the caribbean coast of Costa Rica but haven´t left myself enough time. I think I have packed quite a lot into these 3 months but of course only scratched the surface of Central America and Mexico. You often get people posting questions on the lonely planet thorn tree forum asking if 2 weeks is ...

... you could just feel the culture vibrating off every aspect of the town. There was a family playing in the little park. One of the kids was hanging upside down from the tree and the other was poking at the him. The mom was standing just a little off watching her children taunt each other. The rest of the town surrounded this family like mountains, protecting them. In this town is where I had my first glimpse at an actual volcano. I grew up in the Midwest of ...

The residence is quite good. I like the people I am living with and after the official person living there moed out it was actually really good. I have my own room, we share a kitchen, living and dining room. ..and it is really nice with nice and fun people.

A whale of a tale

A Whale of a tale I went "paseando" to a beach where the sand forms an isthmus in the shape of a whale's tale. When the tide is out, you can walk onto the tale. But before you start to think that this tale is without adventure, think again... Saturday 10:30 am We started out for the bus to Perez. 11:00 The 11:30 bus was sold out. We'd have to take the12:30, standing room only (3.5 hours!), but we needed to make a 4 pm bus to the beach. Would we get there in time? 11:05 ...
