The past couple days has been really fun for me. I got to visit a whole new place in Sendai and had a lot of fun with my fellow students. ... the main part of the city we went to Shiroishi Castle, which like other things, has been rebuilt. It actually was damaged in the 2011 earthquake and was closed for repairs but reopened in the fall of last year. Castle is somewhat misleading, since only the walls and a large tower were rebuilt. A true highlight of any japanese experience is Zao Onsen, a ski resort town about 45 minutes East of Yamagata.
Came here a bit by chance and was very lucky indeed. This town is so charming, lots of little lodges and restaurants, it's pretty, clean and surrounded by mountains, ski slopes and lakes.
