... We then walked on down the hill past some old houses dating from the Meiji period to the old British Consulate. This now contains a museum which we did not have time to visit and a souvenir shop. It was really strange to see shortbread and English sweets along side cups and saucers and Beatrix Potter characters. Next we walked to the cable car station to ride up to the summit of Hakodate Mountain to see the views across the city and bay as night fell. ...

... the fort, which i was taken to by car by Yoshi one of the rider's at the house, who borrowed it from a friend, the garden around has a star fish shape which makes it quite different. Then we tucked in some ramen of course because that is the best dish ever! Yoshi knew a place nearby so we followed and it was good!
