We walked back there and met up with them but the queue for a seat was quite long so we decided to go and have a look at the other restaurants. We waved at Takako and Owen who were at the "Curry Soup" restaurant. The menu didn't seem too appealing. Unfortunately, the ...

... br> In Sapporo, for instance, we happened upon an annual food festival, with dozens of stands offering you name it (we couldn't!). Hundreds of people were happily munching away from disposable plates, bowls, etc. yet there were no place to dispose of them. Where was all this flotsam going? We saw impressive loads of seefood, rogues, fish, shells, and things we don't know what they are. You could even eat there, but we have had breakfast at the hotel

... are many shops selling fresh fish (seafood) to whoever. And by fresh I mean fresh. A lot of the fish, crabs, squid, shellfish etc. were still alive. And in many of the places they would cook it for you ( extra price no doubt) and you could eat it there ( standing of course - no just kidding. Some places had chairs and tables). The size and scope of the market puts the Auckland one to shame, and this town only has a population of 300,000.
