... elicits wide-eyed wonder, but the rest of the meal is quite outstanding. The pizza would even appeal to RI brick-oven experts!

Back to the station, we wander through the now thick crowds like a set of ducklings. Two-by-two the Amy-Lily combo is easier to spot and keep track of than you might think and we manage to stay together despite some accordion-like expanding and contracting of the line.

Surprises come in many forms and last Sunday was a good example of this. One of my colleagues (who is also my friend) has a friend (who is also my colleague, get it?) who wanted to show me around in Omiya. Oh well, there's always next time!

With many many photos taken and our fill with the magnificent wisteria fragrance we travel back to Tokyo on the Express Shrinkensen train.. travel time cut in half but cost doubled!

Final verdict? ... A must do day out for all that visit Tokyo in Fuji Season!

... the trees still look dead. So whilst the park is probably nice in summer, now it was also kind of creepy and deserted. The lake was nice though. After seeing the amazing sights of the town it was time to check in. Our room at the ryokan was nice, basically 2 sitting rooms, a bathroom and then the outdoor bath.
