So, fresh off from Kyoto we headed our way to Nagoya with only objective to a Sumo competition!

We were lucky to get tickets months in advance because these events are very popular in Japan and sell out quickly. There are 6 tournaments per year in Japan, 3 in Tokyo, and 3 in the nearby provinces, including Nagoya, where the year's competition starts.

... we took the subway to our hotel and dropped our bags off before setting out on Phil's itinerary.
First visit was to Nagoya Castle , five stories high in a huge park with good views of the city. Boy, it was hot inside and out and The locals are mopping themselves with their hand towels very frequently. The walls were all blocks of rock constructed similarly to pyramids and the roof lines were in a pagoda style with two huge solid hold statues on top. ...

... check in, just time to dump our bags & off we went for a walk around the town we went to a museum, a shrine, the Takayama festival float exhibition hall, we then went to the old part of town.
