Bandung, Jawa Barat, Indonesia umbun... just off a main street. After dropping our stuff off, we quickly made our way out to find something to eat. This led us to an open food court where for the first time we were able to find real milkshakes, up to now everyone considered real milkshakes to be made with powder. Not knowing what else to do in a big city where else do we head...the Ciwalk Mall. This was a huge, beautiful outdoor/indoor mall where we ended up watching a ...
Bandung, West Java, Indonesia chelseyandkevin... different at the mall. Like everywhere . . . same stores . . . so I return to the hotel to check out and it is around 11:30. When I return I am told that the bus company has called. I really don't quite understand what is happening as they say that if I was leaving earlier the bus would pick me up at the hotel but because I am leaving at 1pm I have to go to their office!!!! The hotel tells me they will drive me to the office and I ...
Bandung, West Java, Indonesia bowtieWondering how many adventure i've been to this city, but it always give me something new, a perspective beyond magination.<br><br>first when you enter the city gate through a train station, afar from a rural land that separates dream from reality, see the children wave at you as the rain moves slowly into a misty ...
Bandung, Java, Indonesia depapepe... Robbie behind me (trying not to fall over :)). I got a second wind and knowing we were near the top jogged most of the way up, behind our guide Hardy. We reached the summit, 2958m high!!! Although we did have a great view of the other mountains and smouldering craters, which was awesome, I expected more of a panoramic view of the landscape. We chilled out at the top of the mountain, chatting to Hardy, our local guide from Cibodas (a relative of Freddy's) and how he enjoys bird ...
Cibodas, West Java, Indonesia leehorscraft... all good things must come to an end. Continuing west and north to Bogor tomorrow for our last three nights in Java and hopefully somewhere will re-open so we can do something. Although the do seem to take easter weekend as a holiday even though it is a muslim country so we shall see. Nothing would surprise us here now, other than normality or free and balanced advice. Off to stroll the empty streets Jonny + Hatty x
Bandung, Java, Indonesia jonnyw... are poor, and are completely limited by the lack of choices presented to them. There simply is too many people and no work. All day long most people are just laying around, hanging out, chatting it up. But not because they are lazy. There's nothing to do. They turn to, what seems to us, desperate measures. They walk up and down the streets carrying entire portable kitchens on their backs, and will sit down and make you a meal if you ask. They stalk roadside fruit ...
Bandung, Java, Indonesia taralyra... also so old, that most of the statues are broken. On top of the temple we suddenly and suprisingly had our five or no, more like thirty minutes, of fame, when some Indonesians got excited about seeing westerners and wanted to take photographs with the two of us. It wasn't before long, that every and each one of them wanted her or his picture with us, including the whole car-racing club of Yogyakarta... By the time we could finally flee the procedings, the back of our heads were ...
Bandung, Indonesia mchavez... swimming ascent. The boat ride to and from the island was quite eventful - the swell had picked up and we were getting air in our flat hulled boat, and had to hang on for dear life for over an hour due to the rough sea and the driving skills of Lolo, a complete speed freak. We were also being overtaken by loads of flying fish on the way - I have never seen fish fly, it's a strange sight! The day before the trip we went to local fishing tackle ...
Nusa Penida/Lembongan, Indonesia julesandjames... to Bandung in the evening. We don't know where to look when we went to Garut. We stopped along the way to visit some people, and to see what they cultivate. And take a course in making brick without an oven. We go back to the car as soon as it starts to drizzle. We have an excellent day today. A luxurious car with good springs, a good chauffeur and a very good guide, for ourselves! When the guide sees that they harvest rice, he pulls over ...
