Yercaud is a hill station just an hour's drive from Salem. It is part of the Shevaroys range of hills in the eastern ghats. With an altitude of approx 1500 meters, it is a popular tourist destination, for those who intend to escape the heat as well as the hustle of the cities we live in.
With Uncle Robert on the wheels, we were able to start on the drive at around 6PM. After tackling 20 hair pin bends, we reached the Shevaroy's Hotel in an hour or so. We felt the ...

We were picked up by Uncle Robert at Salem station, from where we went on to their home in Salem, where Shirley Aunty showered us with her warm welcome and hospitality. After having a satisfying dinner, we went off to a well deserved sleep after a tiring train journey during the day.

Here, foreigners aren’t aloud to see inner sanctums. Only Hindus can lay eyes on that holy of holies. These people come not to flaunt their status or add something memorable to their lives. They come to pray, and snapping photos of a man bent in more devotion than I’ve ever felt seems a bit beyond offensive. ...

I was there in Yercaud 2011 October. I was driving from Bangalore and it was a sunny day and when i reached the hotel, there was no AC in a 3K per night booking. I was a little disappointed. The hotel location is good, it has a nice hill view. Has a recreation room and a badminton court, above all there is a foosball table. The dining and the attached facilities are good. I didn't try the spa, so can't comment on that. Overall I felt its "not so great".
