The Temple Stay I Promised Myself 10 Months Ago!

... temples. If you are interested in learning about this faith, it is a never ending task with responsibilities that fall directly upon the pupil. This does not mean you cannot solicit help or advice from the temple or its inhabitant. Its just that a temple stay is far from the schooling I had envisioned.

From mere observation, I already have a deeper perception of the men (and women) who live, learn, and strive for enlightenment under the guidance and teachings of the Buddhas.

THE FLIGHT (aka the bad blogger)

... we were able to meet our Korean Horizons contact: Alistair who helped us and 3 other English teachers to Incheon Guest House. (FREE! yay.) I spent a rather surreal 12 hours going to "E-Mart" to rummage through Korean snacks, sleeping (horizontally), and getting to know the other English teachers as we made a four hour busride to Yang Yang for our "EPIK Teachers Orientation" (EPIK is . . . English Program in Korea? Something like that)

Seasons of life

... thing to TRULY forgive. Easy to say, hard to do. I've come to realize that there are a lot of things I haven't forgiven myself for. Forgiving others is the easy part. But to forgive oneself and free oneself is the difficult part. And I think it's a continual challenge. There have been several occasions when I've felt free and truly connected with the feeling of forgiving myself, loving myself, etc ...

Inchon (Seoul), South Korea

... supplied with the meal. The very hot and spicy food was colored red to help prevent us from taking something to hot or spicy than we could handle. Harriet found her second home here in Korea. Not only did she move from petite sizes to regular sizes, she found a culture that served multiple fish platters and plenty of vegetables. Needles to say as much as I avoid the unusual looking fish plates, she went straight to them. The one thing that she didn't eat, she said was moving. I did ...

My school pissed me off!

... that would reduce my tuition too! Anyway...I am always looking 50 steps in front of me and you just cant plan life.....you never know where you will end up. We will see where the next few years take me. I guess this means I need to figure out all the specifics surrounding residency requirements too. What if I live/work internationally for too long and then I lose my in-state tuition?!?!?! That would be awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, enough day dreaming for one day!

Recapping a hectic month

Well it's been a busy month for me. I've been busy playing the tour guide in the mornings and then off to work most afternoons although thankfully I have had a few more days off since Wade arrived so I am starting to feel a little less like throttling someone who doesn't realise they need a visa for travel! We've been trying to get out and about as much as possible and this has included exploring the metro lines in order to get out. I ...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

... Apparently Korean women don't do this and hence it's nigh on impossible to find somewhere to get it done. I've been desperately searching the web and I've found a couple of spots that I'm going to try tomorrow - please cross your fingers for me. I'll keep you updated. I'm just hoping the language barrier doesn't mean I end up having to dtawer on my eyebrows for the next couple of ...

Various Photos

Here are some photos of some various things I have been doing over the past couple of months. However, as you may well know, I tend to get lazy at times, so this is a culmination of the past three months. I will try to post a real entry in the near future, but please don't hold your breath while waiting for it. Until then>>>>

Korean Experience

... head to Bangkok, Thailand at around midnight. Instead, our plane was delayed six hours and we ended up arriving in Korea and were forced to spend the night in a hotel paid for by the airline. John and Jeff went to sleep right when they got there, and Travis, Chelsea and I went to some bars on the road we were staying at. The inability to communicate with the locals was frustrating to say the least, although ...
