... After lunch, we were treated to a tour of the village by some of the local students. They took us to a school, a church and the national parks office. The talked to us about the conservation efforts in the park and some of the obstacles in this part of Asia. Upon returning to the resort, the kids had an initiation to open water divers by having a coke poured down a snorkel and chugging it. This ...

... soft corals and nudibranchs made the dive very interesting. Thousands of palm sized angle fish and tangs in a massive reef long school, moved around us as we whisked by while they faced into the current feeding. It was like we were in a bubble that was defined by the presence of fish. Very nice. But four dives in two days and I was done. ... We had to pack the room out and head down to the eating area well before 0700 in order to meet the boat I'd arranged to for us to see dolphins on, and that would continue on to the port in Manado. Mey, Lia, and the cooks served up some very fancy rice, egg, and papaya plates for us. We were surprised to see Guillermo and Ruben already awake, ready to send us off on our journey. As 0700 came and went, however, Ameen and I began to wonder what had happened ...

'Frustrating' is the best word to describe this issue with extending my visa. Ibu Siska sent a text message to Ibu Jein in the middle of the first period this morning to say that there was now a major problem with my visa application at the Kantor Imigrasi. Because the documents had not been submitted yesterday afternoon as planned, there was now no way to get the completed visa and passport back by COB on Friday. Supposedly I will get my visa back on Monday afternoon now, ...
