    ... end up at a dead end. Finally I give up and ask for directions... and am soon pointed in the right way.
    The staired alley takes me up past some beautiful abandoned mansions and then through the gates to a walled in area at the top of the hill. It's all but empty now, but you could fit a small town in here. Then on the other side is an imposing gate and the castle itself.

    ... we were driving through fields . We did arrive in Lanjoron , and hour latter than expected but in one piece . Yet another nice tree lined town in the mountains . There is snow still on the Sierra Nevada now . We are an oddity in this town most tourist being Spanish. The hotel has a super pool which we took full advantage of.     Ronda, Spain (Make sure you rrrrolll the "R" and make it a hard "O" like you were saying "Open" or else the bus driver may not understand you). We came to the conclusion that one of the reasons we spent over 4 hours at the bus station in Arcos de la Frontera waiting for the bus to Ronda is because we kept mispronouncing Ronda when we were asking each bus driver if they went to "Ronda".

    Made sure to keep track of my path on the map. Thankfully not to hard given that I was following/crossing creeks and walking around hills that were clearly identifiable on my map. All OK for the first couple of hours (with the exception that the times for reaching landmarks required a brisk pace which given the unclarity of the trail was not possible) even saw some boar along the way.
