Today we had a two hour drive along the highway to Knossos, an archeological site from the Minoan age. It was a Minoan palace that was nearly 4000 years old. It was home to a king who asked Apollo for a bull to sacrifice to honour Apollo. The bull was so beautiful though that the king sacrificed another one,which made Apollo angry. He then made the queen fall in love with the bull, which produced the Minotaur, a half human, half bull, which lived on human blood. ...

... landed at Crete as a quick refuelling stop and then went on to Athens for overnight and then a refuelling stop at Brindisi in Italy. I had planned from Israel to fly to Crete, to bypass Athens and fly over Brindisi on my side trip to Croatia. But today was about getting to Crete. Yigal collected me from hotel early and we headed to airport, refuelled and got away only a bit later than planned.

... It looked very small from the outside.) It's now the Municipal Art Gallery and - was closed! At the other end of 25th Street (from the harbour) is Liondaria or Lion Square, with its Venetion Morosini Fountain. It was built around 1620 and is decorated with figures from Greek mythology.
