... snow from far away. You have to take your shoes off to walk up them, and at first you think your feet wıll freeze, but it is just rock - calcium carbonate that was deposited ın the area in a beautiful way. There are also little pools of water that are carved out along the way that you can walk in, and that have calcium-carbonate that felt like sand at the bottom that you can run your feet through. Since ıt was early in the day ...
Pamukkale, Denizli, Turkey gorchuk... lies the timelessness of earth’s bubbling spring. Down in the valley
is the sound of new-time, now-time. The muezzin signals ‘today’. And
beyond the horizon sets the sun.

Like a black hole, all the
dimensions seem sucked into one spot; the past, the present and future,
and the sun, water and rock – an infinity of time.

I cling tightly to my principle maxim – when the sun does not rise in the morning, I know I shall be in serious trouble.
Pamukkale, Denizli, Turkey the-rambler... too many tourists in speedos can wade around in. Hierapolis is the ruins of an ancient city built at the top the hill around the springs which feed into the travertines. We checked out the ancient acropolis and remnant of the theater which, at its zenith, could support an audience of 20,000, but couldn't be bothered to trek the extra half mile to the necropolis whose location was only vaguely indicated on the map.

The last time I was in NY for ...
Denizli, Turkey david_chung... at the beach, which we used a local bus (Dolmus) to get to. Finally, relaxing on the beach - something we can both do quite well and some would say are experts at. It was pretty hot though and our English tans didn't take too much time to disappear, only to be replaced by a nice rosy tinge (someone got a little too rosy). We then spent a day checking out Ephesus. Now even though Littleman has been here before, it was still amazing to see again and of course T was in heaven ...
Pamukkale, Denizli, Turkey tandlittleman... day, we saw far more than we were expecting. I think we did over 6 kms today, everything was just so magical and impressive. We have to say thank you to Adem and Ann Marie of Artemis Yoruk Hotel for such a warm and welcoming stay. Their facility is great, clean, new linens and towels, a real family atmosphere. The travel information we came away with for the next visits in Turkey are invaluable. Lots of happy hours spent chatting while enjoying the apple tea. Thanks!
Pamukkale, Turkey dancejill... very disappointing, the location wasnt great and it was very small, giving the impression of all being on topmof each other in the water tonight we went out for lamb chops, drank lots of beer, smoked shisha, and counted down the start to Sylvia's 30th birthday, which reached a crescendo at 12pm that night, at 12:30pm the restaurant were we had been ...
Pamukkale, Denizli, Turkey adisyl... contained the best theater we have seen, and there weren't that many people looking around so it felt like we had the whole city to ourselves, very cool. After a night parking in a dodgy hotel car park we went to Selcuk, to see Ephesus. The camping ground was nice and they forgot to ask us to pay for tea, so all in all it was a good place to stay! Hehe. Ephesus was jam packed with tourists. There were so many bus loads of people here we just couldn't ...
Pamukkale, Denizli, Turkey laineStarted our new (and final, thank GOD) tour today. The demographic is slightly different to the previous tours we've been on and we're the grandparents of the group...there's no one else born in the 70s...at least we've got an excuse for bailing early and going to bed!!! We had a short stop off in Pergamum on our way today. It is ...
Pamukkale, Denizli, Turkey christineatkins... the calcium carbonate springs located at the sight. This is also what attracted the Romans to initially settle on the site, as the calcium rich water has unique healing qualities for skin related ailments. On arrival in Pamukkale village, I set about finding my hotel. I got lost once again, and then a nice young school girl saw my distress and came and helped me, and she led me all the way to my hotel. My hotel was absolutely stunning and only 28 dollars a ...
Pamukkale, Turkey juliank... the bend away from the masses and these newer, regenerated pools had really sprung to life. The clean, pure, white basins against the setting sun and the rural backdrop were impressive. After all, this is not something you see every day. (Just maybe, my low, low expectations helped me draw my happy conclusions). However, as you can see I couldn't stop taking photographs. The combination of the sunset (we wanted to avoid the ...
