The main, and really only reason for our visit to Pilsen (or Plzen) was … you guessed it …. for beer!!! Apart from the beer, Pilsen has a nice old town, and is the European Capital of Culture for 2015. It is also on the Lonely Planet’s top 10 places to visit in Europe for 2014, so it has to
have something going for it!!!

Time to leave Prague, Dieter would be outside the hotel near 11am. We had breakfast that the hotel served: toast, meat, cheese, tomatoes and coffee. From breakfast we finished packing then went out to the square to buy some chocolates, macaroons and a cappuccino. We met Dieter, threw our things into the back of the car and were off.

Plzen (or Pilsen) is a city we had been anticipating visiting for some time. It is sandwiched on our itinerary between four and three days in Prague. It would be our last destination outside of Prague, the place Pilsener beer was made, and also the home to Standa - one of the GSE team members that came to the USA in April.
