... too, has been closed for some time while a new entrance was built. Our landlady described it as looking like a bathtub. That's probably a bit harsh. But what did impress us was NZ artist Peter Robinson's large work 'Operation: Do you speak Dutch' Dutch?' in a very prominent position at the top,of the stairs as you walk up from the entrance. ... At least with Italian and French there are words I recognize or sound familiar. This is gibberish. For example: Good morning = Goedemorgen (pronounced khoo-der-mor-khern). So, g sounds like k and throw a few extra r sounds in there. Yeah...we'll get right on that. Aaaahhhhh!!! Except then sometimes it sounds like they're mixing in English in a really funny accent. We need to find some understandable English soon or this is going to be a hard 3 days! ...

... s just what they do, by many various means. Most of the houses also have a large gantry hook hanging outside of the top storey. This is because space is at such a premium, they make stairs etc, just wide enough for a person to negotiate but moving furniture is another matter, hence the hooks (and pulleys). ... as they were back then. Nothing new and shiny here, everything is wood or iron. The mill can cut 2 meters per hour where if they were doing it by hand, it would be 2 meters in 2 hours. They also do multiple cuts in that amount of time speeding up the process even more. This was a very interesting demonstration as I've never seen a working windmill before. See, I can still learn even though I'm not in school!

... chatted until lunch time. We had a lot of catching up to do. Later Martin's cousin Jennifer her partner and 2 children came over and we had dinner together. It was a really great day and the farewells were a little emotional. Bryn is the last of Martin's mother's 2 brothers and 1 sister still alive.
