    ... of reaching for humor) We finished our round in about 3 hours, a very good pace considering we were walking and stopped at a hole for a bite of lunch.

    We had no intention of visiting another Chateau today but, since we finished so early and the Chateau de Cheverny ( was only about a half of a mile from where we played, we decided to check it out. The Chateau has been in the hands of one family ...

    Beautiful gardens in grounds
    Some didnt live up to description, a bit like some modern art
    Moss garden - reminded me of alpine & gravel garden at Wairoa Street

    Bit of a sleep in
    Missed breakfast but did get cuppa & toast
    Off to Chambord
    Immense walled park -bigger than centre of Paris
    Impressive sight when see chateau come into view
    Huge, amazing, show of power, crazy roofline
    Double spiral staircase
    Kings bedroom
    Sandwich - not so quick after all

    ... to date. For those who are unaware that Leonardo da Vinci was known for more than his paintings (as in the Mona Lisa) his inventions on display at the Chateau confirm he possessed a brilliant mind, a true genius. At the Chateau, there is a small museum that houses many small models of things he invented. Many required technology that would take hundreds of years to develop.

    ... food was amazing and I would highly recommend the restaurant.

    We then headed to Velancy where another castle was located. It was a smaller castle but beautiful and great to wander through. We received audioguides and listened to stories about the castle. The grounds of the castle were also beautiful with lush plants and beautiful fountains. The tour allowed us to visit the Caves (cellars) and see the kitchen below. The cellars housed wine ...
