Today there is little to report of interest to a travel blog. I picked up some food at a nearby supermarket and then worked all day, casting an occasional gaze outside at the beautiful vineyards all around. This is some of the best wine country in the world. The most consistently sought-after and expensive wines are not far from where I am, in the Paulliac region north of Bordeaux. The most famous are Château Lafite-Rothschild, Château Latour and Château ...

This morning I worked several hours in the hotel room, then at 10:00 walked over to the chateau to have a look. I got behind a family group from the Netherlands and had to wait while they negotiated the ticket counter.

We tasted a few of the wines and only one of them impressed me but not enough to buy any. Time to move on. Three days is enough of lounging ...

After dinner we went up to the terrace for an after dinner drink. Things have changed slightly since we were there last. It was ladies night and so there was a nice expensive drink that came with a gift, a silk scarf. Brenda has this drink, cannot remember what it was. I had a champagne mojito and a Black Dream. It started to rain and was getting cool so we left and came to our room. I am now watching Germany destroy Brazil 7-0 ...

... s packing a sad so we get out the iPad and Mac & him watch Hop. Keeps them both busy, and we're there in no time. Midday and we're in Bordeaux. OH MY GOD I'VE DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN - then come back with a thud. I'm in walking shoes and with Paul, Julia & Mac, this place is AMAZING. 1km of shops in just one area, 1km BOTH sides. ****** those full suitcases, best I get to Tewkesbury, get rid of some of it and hit the shops. Loving it, ...
