10.30am/ 27*C (feels like 100*C) After a nice evening and a reasonably good sleep (I don't think the temperature dropped below 22*C last night) I am now sitting in Ljubljana at the railway station, waiting for my train into the great unknown called Zagreb. The sweltering heat that has Europe in its grasp is back and will follow me to Croatia. It is nice if you are not carrying a big rucksack and a handbag. Sat. June 13. Day 9 Warm 25C An early start saw us meeting our personal guide Janez at 8-30am; he drove us 55km N-W of Ljubljana to the Lake Bled area in the Julian mountains. This place was voted one of the 14 most romantic places in the world. Janez, recommended by friends in Adelaide, has a doctorate in art history and extensive knowledge of architecture and an entertaining and enthusiastic style of presenting information about a ...

... led to a €500 fine. Which we OBVIOUSLY weren't going to pay. "So we will take you to the police station and you can call your parents to come and find you." Err, that's not likely to happen either given they're a few hundred miles away, pal. Half an hour, some AMAZING fake crying (hats off Sinead. It's a talent) and some sweet talking later we were on our way, extremely cautious to ensure we crossed at "the right place". ...

    Greenest city in Europe

... one on each corner. The Ljubljana river runs through the middle of the old city and there are many bridges running from one side to the other.

The photos don't do many of these pales justice but it's so much better than the postcard pictures we've seen of them.

We took a local bus to Bled which was two and a half hours and for us at the moment that's no time at all lol. Bled was beautiful as in the centre was this beautiful very ...
