    ... and to the canal behind the house. It is a wonderful garden with lots of fruit and berries. Black and red currants. raspberries, goose berries ,plums and apples. At the canal there was a cherry tree with some very good cherries on it.

    Absolutely wonderful day in Wer*****ode. This quintessential German town dates back to 1121 and sits at the base of the Harz Mountains. The quaint and vibrant buildings helped the city earn its nickname as the "colorful town of the Harz."

    ... a walk down through the spa town. the gardens and flowerbeds were lovely. the main thoroughfare was pedestrianised, with lots of trees and a stream running down one side.
    It reminded us both of somewhere we had visited before.... and then it came to us..... it is very like Zakopane in Poland! ...
