... An interesting local ferry caught Victor's eyes, it had a long wire hooked to it from an overpass about 7 stories high, it just let the current of the river guide the ferry. The locals use them to cross to the other side of the river without walking all the way to the bridge. One would call the Fahrimaa with a bell from the landing stage. It was one of four ferries that cross the river that way. We had ...

What an adventure it was just to get here, the starting point of our River cruise. We decided to come a day earlier just in the off chance that there might be travel problems, and boy did we have it. Our connecting flight from Frankfurt got the gate changed, then delayed, and the dreaded cancellation. Lufthansa proceeded to issue train tickets for us to get to Basel, which was a 3 hour train ride. The good thing is that the train station is connected to the airport. But ...

... places to visit in the city.

    • My first impressions of Switzerland are great. The place is beautiful and the landscape reminds me of home. The people are also really friendly.
    • Fri 17/10
      • I grabbed some supplied from the supermarket and caught the tram to Bruderholz. The Canadian lady had recommended going there to climb to the top of the old water tower. Today was sunny for a change so it was a good time to go and visit.
      • I got off the ...
