... we asked at reception if there was a laundromat around. They said they did not know of any. So off we went in search of a laundromat. Our GPS is not that great for locating this kind of stuff. We actually did find an Aldi to ask someone, but just beside it was a trailer park. People in motor-homes (caravans over here) have to do laundry, right? So we pulled in there to ask. They said that we could use their laundry room. Yeah!!! Since they only have one washer and one dryer and ...

... time again. Prutz is a pretty run of the mill looking town, where I can do some shopping. It looks like a bit of a "base camp" for folks hiking/riding/skiing up in the mountains. In the plaza, a young fellow joins me for my strum session. "How do you like living here?" "There aren't many jobs here--and they're only part time. Also, I have mental problems, so I can't work a lot of ...

I offer "Sure, would you like to come inside?" Would I? Of course! No way I'll turn down the opportunity to see inside an Austrian home. Maybe I can ...

... out a castle, I notice the first monument I've seen in Austria dedicated specifically to those fallen in World War I and World War II with a solemn statue of a mother holding her dead son... Up by the castle, which unfortunately is closed today is a sign describing the "Via Claudia." It turns out, that the narrow valley to the south is actually an ancient Roman route that connected Italy with the ...

... this. I don't want my journey to become just a routine--especially not my Alps hike. But at the same time I'm excited. Excited to realize that for the first time in my life I feel I've acclimatized to the lifestyle of a long distance hiker. I could keep hiking like this... pretty much indefinitely. But will I? We'll think more about this tomorrow. For now I'm just going to wander around one more village, then find a quiet spot in the orchard, and set up camp for the ...
