... area and a lot of local wine is produced. We rode for close to 3 hours, just jumping off our bikes to take pictures, get a drink of water or eat a breakfast bar. It would be; ride 20 minutes, jump off for 5, ride another 20 minutes, jump off for 10 and so on. It was just about the most perfect riding possible. There would be a fortress on top of one peak and a church on top of the next with rows of vineyards ...

... called Melk. The guided tour today was to be of the Benedictine Abbey up on the hill. It was a strikingly pretty yellow color which I thought wasn't typical for an Abbey. Then I found out about the museum they had there, the school that housed 900+ students, and the extensive library, and it made more sense. It was a beautiful place! The museum housed an ornate cross that supposedly housed a splinter from the cross of the crucifixion. ...
