... that once overlooked the bustling market place of farmers bringing their monthly produce, I blow her a kiss. Time warp! Arriving at one of the Donau's (Danube) dam's, we view the fairytale kingdoms that lie ahead. Looking like sprouting poppies poking from the ground, two along the river and one perched far on a hill. Rolling through the narrow streets of Persenbeug I'm taking back to its medieval roots as a trading town ...

... a few stops along the way so we had to keep an eye on the time. The cycling is beautiful, following along beside the river. Our first main stop is in Durnstein (I think) where we parked our bikes at the House of Colours which has a free WC! We wandered up the Main Street (cobblestones) and had a taste of apricot schnapps. It is still a working Abbey, focusing on education these days. The Abbey Museum ...

... Weltenberg Abbey for a show of frivolous over-spending. My favorite part of the tour was definitely the library. I LOVE books and this library was just beautiful! The Abbey holds over 100,000 books! Some of the oldest ones have been rebound in leather with gold leafing so they all match. The room with dark wood shelves and marble statues and all those leather gold-leafed books was just stunning! I could have spent all day in there! Unfortunately we ...

... on and the buildings on the lower level. Apparently these buildings were mostly used to store wine which apparently survived the rinse cycle intact. The town, however, had quite the clean up on their hands. With only 936 residents and hundreds of tourists waiting to visit they had to work quickly to bring the riverside back in to working order. Fortunately the main part of the town is quite a hike above the water and was not effected. However, ...
