... and walking along the shore. We decided to skip the other beach we had planned to visit and ended up staying at Elofonisi for about 5 hours before winding our way through the islands. For dinner the hotel helped us book a spot at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the harbor and sunset. Although the restaurant Pallas was more Italian than Greek food, it was delicious and the ambiance could not be beat. At the end of each meal they serve raki shots to you and while ...

We awoke late this morning still a little tired after our late arrival last night. I was just able to sync yesterday's post. Our hotel is an old Venetian building that has been beautifully renovated. We had the best yogurt I've ever had along with a huge variety of other items for breakfast in the charming courtyard. After breakfast we walked along the waterfront of the old Venetian harbor out to the light house to admire the ...

Most visitors who want to hike the famous Samaria leave between 6 and 7am in order to have plenty of time to do the 16km hike (5+ hours) well before the 5:30pm ferry leaves at the end. But when the rest world zigs, we zag. In addition, we love to sleep! We got up around 8:30am and made the best use of the breakfast buffet possible making off with ham, cheese, bread and fruit enough for our mid-hike lunch. On the road by 9:45, the front desk was aghast at our late ...

    As much nothing as possible

... hell. On the way out, Evie was stopped by a classic looking Greek monk who through a series of gestures commented on her rainbow painted nails. From there we dragged Evie to the next monastery which wasn't available to visit but was the beginning of our 15 minute walk to an ancient cave church. Motivated only by gummy bears (Evie had used all her energy in the ocean and in the pool) we managed to make it to the amazing cave with its altar and confessional booth. ...
