A week in Salzburg and a snow storm

... in Salzburg had an open roof in certain areas, so at times the snow was actually falling inside the building! We hailed a cab (note: some cabs don't like 4 people with 4 bags) and drove to our hotel, all the while being amazed at what was going on.

It was early afternoon when we arrive and now well and truley hungry we headed out for a lovely feed, or so we thought. In Salzburg most restaurants and cafes close their kitchen, or shut completely between ...

This time last year I was sitting on a bus recovering from a night bringing in 2014 in Paris with my Contiki family. I was full of excitement for the adventures up coming and optimism for the year that lay ahead.

This year I am in Salzburg, Austria with my family! Mum and I stayed awake to see in midnight and boy was it worth it. Fireworks are legal for the public to buy and use here, so all night people all around the area ...

... its not snowing and you can just enjoy the sun.

We decided to go to Mondsee next which is another lake town. It was very pretty as it was surrounded by mountains on all sides. There was one restaurant open there which was right on the lake front and had a lovely view. We had some lunch there and watched the tour busses come through. I'm glad we got a car and can explore in our own time is all I'm going to say about that haha!

Sound of Music is equally popular reference here, perhaps, because of the overwhelming feeling of freedom and complex accords of emotions that you experience here in Austria.

I still prefer countryside to cities, and compact sizes of Austrian's towns allow to get a pretty good impression within half a day, leaving plenty of time to enjoy unspoiled vistas and natural wonders ...
