I am so far behind with this blog. Partly, it's because we have traveled every single month during 2009. There's so much to tell & show that unless I write every week, I'm always several trips behind. The other problem is ...
Naples, Campania, Italy amboughOla Kala: simply, OK (in Greek). No time for lots of flap.....we're on the go. The Vatican Museums await us (and we can hardly wait to do more walking!). Enjoy the pictures and we'll fill you in on the adventure next time I make the time to sit and gab.
We're still having a grand time!!!!!
... 6 or 7 music stores in 1 block- one of which had guitars, lutes and other stringed instruments dating back to the late 1800's.
Also discovered that the food options in Naples are a lot better than northern Italy with a lot more meat based snacks and fried snacks available to eat whilst wandering the streets.
No wonder northern Italians are so skinny and short - their food options for decent snacks are so limited compared to the south ...
... to the grotto was completely covered by crashing waves, so I knew they weren’t kidding). Anyway, I was disappointed, until we were approached by two Italian brothers who said they would take us on their private boats on a two-hour tour all around Capri, complete with a swimming stop in the Green Grotto. At first I thought we were getting scammed, but since it was a lot cheaper and longer than boat ride to the Blue Grotto would’ve been, we ...
Sorrento, Campania, Italy caranesca... 11:30.....heaven..... May 13 We both had incredibly good sleeps last night - didn't hear a peep. We dragged ourselves out of bed at about 8:30 this morning and went down to the restaurant for the included breakfast. We were met by about six wait-staff wearing white tuxedos, black pants and bow-ties. I felt under-dressed! It wasn't just any old continental breakfast - you could have eggs, bacon, roast potatoes, a huge variety of fruit and pastries, all ...
Sorrento, Campania, Italy lindalequesne... am going to be very disappointed. So now im back in Rome, chilling out and doing some washing, food shopping etc, before I leave tomorrow for Florence, the home of the statue of David and Italian leather products. Seeing as I have broken the 1 month barrier, I thought I would continue with an updated list of my favourite and less favourite things so far: Favourite place : Munich, Ios Favourite food: Gyros, crepes, choc covered strawberries from Munich, gelati ...
Sorrento, Campania, Italy lovin_applesWell, we said goodbye to our Galaxy ship this morning. We were driven to the Roma train station to catch our train to Napoli. We only had to wait three hours before our train left. The problem is that all the train stations we've been in have no place to sit. So there are people sitting on the floor, on places they are not allowed, all kinds of places. The train ride was uneventful. But when we got to Napoli, our train came in ...
Sorrento, Italy allenm28... html# (this website is a good review of all Pompeii, Ercolona and Naples Museum has to offer re the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 62 AD) a 20 minute train ride away. Awesome, so much has been preserved from 64 BC believe it or not! The ash and mud that came down as a result of the Vesuvius eruption preserved a lot and frescoes still have colour, houses still have rooms etc. The Roman civilization was so advanced, then came the 'dark ages' and a reversal ...
