It has been beautiful here and I have learned so much, but all good things must come to an end. See you all next week I hope.
Assisi, Umbria, Italy bbirmHi Everyone!

This past weekend was the Perugia Chocolate Festival…It was amazing! Basically, I was in heaven. It was a chocolate lover’s paradise. We took a bus from Florence and arrived in Perugia by mid morning. It was a bitter day which gave me a perfect excuse to have some out of this world hot chocolate and churros. A bunch of my friends and I had lunch at a ...
Perugia, Umbria, Italy siarakelyndaliSo the morning came and Licia and I each took our turn getting cleaned and ready for our exciting chocolate adventure.

It was about an hour drive through the beautiful Umbrian countryside to the Perugia exit from the highway. At this time traffic was getting quite dense as was our anticipation growing.

Arriving at the base of the hills, we came to an enormous parking lot with carnival rides and ...
Perugia, Umbria, Italy davefremland... br>We had a traditional dinner consisting of foods from that region. I had a pasta followed by the most sumptuous lamb. And Licia had the same. We took a stroll through the charming village and then drove back to our village for the night.

It was quite cold but with the fresh air and quiet, I got a great night's sleep.
Perugia, Umbria, Italy davefremland... Birthplace of st Francis) and sits on top of a hill looking very sacred. We climbed to the top where an old fortress stands and saw the sights before heading home.
(Whitney)

We had a pretty chill time in Perugia. It is a very nice area of italy- a bit more how I pictured Italy, actually. Locals on the bus helped us to get to the hostel but we finally made it. We stayed in a really cute farmhouse with horses and ...
Perugia, Umbria, Italy steveandwhitney... is famous for its chocolates. You can see that little architecturally has changed with-in the city walls in the last 400 hundred years. With a mix of past glories and a youthful vibe from the university it has a charm that is hard to resist.

We walked up to Piazza IV Novembre which for thousands of years was a meeting point for the ancient Etruscan and Roman civilisations. In the medieval period it was also the political center of ...
Perugia, Umbria, Italy dinoshona... been a great experience, I am really enjoying it here but I think I wll be ready to move on in two weeks, Torricella is beautiful but it is a little isolated (the only things here are the train station which very few trains stop at, hotels, a bar and the camping ground with the pool - plus the lake and the locals of course), I am looking forward to getting back to a city again.

Perugia, Umbria, Italy kins... fun, drove us to 3 Umbrian hill towns. Marciano had a Chagall exhibit in its little museum. It was absolutely delightful. The exhibit was in two parts. The first part consisted of about 100 llithographs of shtetl life. Almost cartoonish. The second part were paintings of the Exodus story. John, who is a Presbyterian by upbringing, is a Hebrew and old testament scholar by training and is always putting me to shame by knowing so much more about my ...
Perugia, Italy jchiarie... separate churches inside (upper and lower), with a 3rd floor further down to where the tomb of St. Francis is buried. Angelic walls and ceilings painted so beautifully, magnificent altars and chapels carved with marble, it was all perfectly balanced. Spending just enough to time not to miss the details I began my journey down the hill toward another grand basilica. As I walked along the burm, cars speeding past me, I came to that sunflower field we ...
Perugia, Italy ksunderhill... to be out by 9am, so the staff could dismantle all the bunks in case the tourist inspectors came round and tried to enforce the hostel's actual capacity (nine). Saturday I spent lazing about the hostel and watching Lost in Translation. Possibly not the best use of my time in Florence, but I was absolutely exhausted. I did manage to go and see the Duomo, and climb the 463 steps to the top of the tower. It had some amazing frescos of heaven and hell. Lots of ...
