... I want to travel along the river Nil. to the southern border of Egypt, into Sudan. I want to visit Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, and from there I would go east, to Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Then I would turn south again, to get to Kenia. I would like to see Mombasa, that would be my first time at the Indian Ocean.
From Kenia I would go further through the African countries, to South Africa.

... Strangely our heads were fairly clear the next morning. So the last two days we have marched around town taking it all in. It was home to heavy industry such as coal mining and steel milling. That was until May 1943 when the RAF in two sorties of some 1400 bombers flattened 98% of the city centre and 66% of social housing. Divine retribution indeed. ... a few of them practicing their best English while very merry! Hans-Peter tested out his new Nikon D800 which is a monster of a camera and I had no idea how to use it!

We ended up staying until 3am before Denise and Marita finally convinced Willi to call it a night. It was pretty cosy in her Volkswagen as we drove them home before finally crashing into bed ourselves.

As for New Years Resolutions, that will have to wait for another blog!

Howdy folks,

Steffie was in the mood to buy shoes. She didn't just want them, she needed new shoes (specifically black tennis shoes). So Denise came up with the suggestion of going to a shopping centre in nearby Oberhausen called CentrO, which just happens to be the largest shopping centre in Europe, although it only has the second largest food court! But to be fair, that includes all the buildings on the whole area so the Sea-Life Park and Aquarium ...
