    ... making our way to the coach and onto Venice. Arrived at the coach park and were transferred onto taxis with our luggage that then took us for a trip around the Grand Canal before depositing us at the Carlton opposite the train station.

    Not really impressed with it however, the rooms are tiny and we are overlooking a concrete courtyard.

    We were given a welcome dinner which wasn't very impressive either and so to bed......

    We had a free day today as most of the tour group were heading to Lake Como for a boat cruise, shopping, and celebrity hunting.     ... cities, and it seemed to take ages to get past this city. Amazing views from the road. The freeways (or Autostrada) don't go over hills - they go through them. Tunnel after tunnel we went through. We were then into more open countryside where the Italians grow their rice. They are harvesting now and the crops look pretty good.
