We were unable to see the Aspendos Theatre as it has been closed for renovations, but we did see the reconstructed bridge and the aquaduct. In the 1930's Atatürk, after tourıng the area, declared that theatre was too beautiful not to use and had renovations done and it now is the home of live performances. There are rugged, jagged, rocky mountains and, high up, snow covered mountains. We found a restaurant with outside seating. We were leery because we were the only guests but gave it a try anyway. We were pleasantly surprised with tasty grilled trout for me and decent chicken ...

Turkish workmen don't seem to start too early in the morning which is a blessing.
Good old Vera. We have a bath with a shower over it and the usual wet clingy curtain. But for me, a bath is the way to go. Lashings of hot water and a plug which knows it should be watertight and really does try hard to do the job.

There were some strange white floaty bits in the bath... Some alarmingly large... which upon further investigation I found to be paint. I think they ...

... dozen of them! We experienced our first rain coming here! Will there be more? Thomas says he can breathe better... We cannot figure out why the Turkish people have not gotten on the Stop Littering bandwagon...This is a serious problem here...we watch people toss trash down ...

So...leaving Konya...the calm Turkish city.

... renting a Turkish car is the best way to go ( although not a fiat I hear). One just has to be brave...and start out somewhere outside of Istanbul...and probably NEVER even attempt to drive within its boundaries...simply out-of-control! Anyway, Konya...I have picked up a couple of books that will help me understand more about who Rumi really was. I picked up a few silly souvenirs as well...and some Sufi music...we went to the Mevlani Museum ...
