... the 8th century - WHOA!

While we didn't go into any of the museums (we spread these out so the kids don't get too bored with them), we did stop and enjoy a traditional treat called a schneeball (snowball) as we meandered back to the camper van. Imagine a crunch dough stuffed with milk chocolate and then dipped in it, too. We split it, and thank goodness we did or we would've been grossly stuffed ourselves! Today is the day I've been waiting for this whole trip! We visited Schwangau and saw two amazing castles: Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. I had reserved tickets for our tours of the castles and they had to be picked up by ...

Our stay in Fussen was truly a day fit for kings. We arrived via train from Munich midday yesterday. The ride was enjoyable compared to the bus ride and gave me ample time to read and enjoy views of the countryside. Upon arrival, we immediately took a bus up the mountains to visit the castles. We started with a hike uphill to the Hohenschwangau castle, which was the older of the two that we visited. With beautiful views of the mountains ...

... never expected but Ben offered to let me drive. For a minute, I wondered if he was kidding but he was not. I was super excited but the fact that I did not have an International license seriously scared me a lot. But Ben boosted my confidence and let me drive once we reached a town where there was less traffic. It was my first time to drive left hand steering.

It was an amazing experience and I drove for a good 50 kms :p ...
