It was a beautiful ride, with a well maintained bike path in place all of the way, and a fun stop at a local beer garden (for some very tasty Weiss Beer) in Vilshofen about halfway along the way. Interestingly, this beer garden also bordered the runway of a small local airport, and a number of single engine planes took off and landed during the hour we stopped to enjoy the local ...

PM - The Danube trail is well signposted, we have only lost it several times, mostly entering or leaving ...

Left the city over the Steinerne Brücke, the oldest working stone bridge in Germany, it was constructed in the 1100's. Our first stop was at Walhalla, in the town of Donaustauf, it is an imitation of the Pantheon Temple on the Acropolis in Greece. Built in 1842 by King Ludwig 1 of Bavaria it contains 127 marble ...

It was a good day for driving. It was quiet on the road so we made good time and drove further then we expected to. We left Utrecht at 1 pm and we arrived in Hengersberg at 7.30 pm. We initially wanted a hotel in Metten, but all the hotels in that small town were full. The hotel we ended up in was very nice, clean and spacious.
After we were settled we ...
