    ... so we all headed into the brewery for the tour.
    The tour stated off with a beer! An excellent way to start a tour. It was called Champ, one of their lower alcohol percentage beers. This tour would be in the Germany language only so Manu will translate as best she can. We watched a short video on the history of the brewery while finishing our beers.     ... us want to pack up the cases and un pack. Took off at 9 for Salzberg. It was 3 1/2hours to get there then 4 back. We were hungry and tired although had a couple of Nana naps on the way. Passed the little town in Austria called Pentling where Pope Benedict was born. (Bit of trivia for you) . One town we passed thru the bus had to go thru these big thick arches that were actually Medieval gates hundreds of years ...

    ... inaugurated on 18 October 1842. According to one of the plaques, Ludwig wanted to build it to remind Germans of their common ancestry and heritage, which they should be proud of. At the time, Germany wasn't united, but a collection of territories and principalities that formed the Holy Roman Empire. Unlike the Norse Valhalla, the people depicted here weren't slain in battle, but rather people who had made a contribution to society.
