The mighty Dolomite Passes
... sun has come out in the valley below. It’s an amazing sight so let’s just hope it breaks away this mist up here also.
Soon there’s nothing but blue skies and the temp starts to rise so looks like it’s going to be yet another wonderful day.
As I make my way up this beautiful snow covered pass I as always keep stopping for photos. It’s just such a wonderful part of the world to be in.
Once at the summit of "Sella pass" ...
Onwards to find the Dolomites
... that my plans of heading via the mountains to Bolzano was going to be impossible as all the passes were closed!!! I looked at the map then the satnav for ways round but just could not work out where the hell I was. The signs on the road simply said "Pass Closed" and underneath said "Use alternative route"!!! I wonder what route we were supposed to take???
With the satnav sending me round in circles I simply got on a road heading East and followed that for mile after mile ...

The following day, we went for another walk through Forni and went down to the mill with Sue to visit Dino’s mother, who lives above the mill’s office. She’s a sweet old lady and only speaks Italian so we were glad to have Sue to translate. She was very happy to see us and after an espresso there, we went downstairs to feed the kittens. ... we mentally marked the spot on our map in case we passed by again. We set off once again stopping along the autoroute a little further on for a picnic lunch. A fantasia journy
Good morning!! I was surprised to wake up in one piece - the man that opened us our Zimmer at ortisei looked really weird and he had the face of the crazy Austrian we saw on the news...quickly I started telling myself a story about how he will kill us and give us to the dogs...brrrrr....
