... good and bad. The city itself was pretty uninteresting despite the glowing recommendation in Lonely Planet but it has a great Olympic Games Museum which we both really enjoyed. The International Olympic Committee is based in Lausanne and the museum was excellent. It covers all aspects of the Olympic Games and included heaps of memorabilia, interactive exhibits, even behind the scenes stuff about the athletes village. Our next stop was the ...

... seemed to have too many rules and too many cars and too many tolls. So we settled on Bodensee. You (I) can't get everything right. The whole of Germany, a fair bit of Switzerland, and some of France seems to be on the edge of the enormous Titicaca-like lake that is Bodensee. Some delegates and leaders decided to pay a little extra to zip line across the reservoir. ...

The town, dating back to the 10th century is the trophy town of the Bodensee with its well preserved old town and and its old and new castles. The Old Meersburg Castle, situated high above the lake, is the oldest inhabited castle in Germany. Today the town was teeming with tourists who ...

... part of Switzerland, along the Western Shore of the Bodensee, wasn't very scenic; the buildings were industrial and there were too many traffic lights along the road. After a brief traverse of a narrow part of Austria, we were finally back in Germany and eventually made it back to Lindau. It was a very long day of driving!

The hotel had warned us that they didn't have a parking space that we could rent for tonight, so we parked in ...
