We are now approaching the Saxon "Switzerland" on the border with the Czech Republic. This is mining country and reminds me if the Colorado mining area. Silver and a bunch of rare earth metals were hauled out of this region until the mines died. If someone says, Germany is a flat country, they never biked through there. I crossed the "Fichtelgebirg", the little "Erzgebirge", plus heaps of hills not specially mentioned, but with all my luggage at least challenging.

I am in Zwickau, 40 km west of Chemnitz.
