Last nights camping was eventful! I was woken in the middle of the night by loud snoring...when I looked to see who it was I discovered a hedgehog ! It had snuck in the tent section where you can keep bags and was snoring so loudly!! We had forgotten to throw rubbish away in the excitement of the storm and the hedgehog had been investigating it, when we moved the rubbish he trotted off out of our tent..so cute though! He's been showing the photos to many people, mainly in a quest for identification and they have all been so interested to see them, even the ones of the bombed out streets. At the top we walked along an easy 3 km path, with lovely views across the valley and mountains on the other side of the ridge. We walked pass villages who were down further into the valley, pass cows with bells on. Hearing the cow bells across the meadows is lovely. We walked through a forest and our path was lined with ...

... or English and we didn't recognise his language at all let alone speak it. So we looked around, realised we were actually quite a long way from the centre anyway. And there was only just room for Herman. And it was still fairly early. So, we decided to re-programme Snoopy and head elsewhere towards Basel.

We ended up in Erstein. It looked a very pretty town. Indeed it was, but it was also closed. All of it. We walked into town looking forward to food and drink. We ...
