It was raining today and really cold so we took in the local museum full of Roman antiquities found in recent local excavations, it was small but still astounding that it was over 2000 years ago and they were so civilised. Armed with maps and directions we walked around the 13th C town with narrow streets and charmingly old views all around. Snowmelt was dripping ...

Day two of our orientation trip consisted of going to a vineyard for some wine tasting at Vini Marino Wine farm and then heading to a buffalo farm, Caseificio Vannulo Mozzarella di Bufala , where we sampled some fresh mozzarella made with buffalo milk. The wine was good, with the farm on the side of a ...

... to relocate the hives for the future. Friday morning also brought a visit to the Wolf Museum in Civitella Alfedena (the village we were staying in), as well as the Wolf Sanctuary, and all the kids favorite - souvenir shopping! After lunch and a short recess, we boarded the bus back to Rome.  It wasn't until our drive back that I realized just how much I had needed this trip for my soul.  I'm loving Rome and have adjusted well to city life, but I am a nature girl at ...
