Up early to find the other gardens we had travelled to Ravello to see at the Villa Cimbrone, expecting this one to be formal Italian in design. We were surprised to find it described in the brochure as showcasing important examples of the landscape, botony and culture of England at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Another thing to Google: are what we think of as Italian gardens, in fact English?
