MAGICAL, COLOGN, KNOWN FOR ITS SCENTS

... They were there for the funeral of the man who owned the major newspaper in Cologne and so the church was cordoned off. We could not get into the church.

so, we did what we had to, eat in a super elegant sweet bakery where we enjoyed dessert style cakes that were flooded with strawberries, cherries, etc., cream frosting, ......you get the picture.


Unknown to me, COLOGNE IS FAMOUS FOR COLOGNE, PERFUME AND AFTERSHAVE.

Up a little later today, breakfasted and on bus - front seats today. Crossed Mosel river. Uneventful travel bypassing Bonn en route to Koln (cologne). Stopped at Cologne for lunch. Most impressed with the external magnificence and of course height of the cologne cathedral, the tallest in the world, but inside didn't quite match up.
