      ... all that other blah that comes with going anywhere, and went to sit. I caved about a month ago and got one of Bill Bryson's travel books...just to see what the big deal is. What makes him stand out from the rest.  Descriptions. That's what.       ... Children would play in the bomb craters looking for shrapnel. Once he recalls being in such a crater when an unexploded bomb nearby went off with a huge detonation. He and his playmates were spared by being down in the hole. His father came running when he heard the explosion, fearing for their lives.
