... about 1 hour on the boat. There is residential along the shoreline and half way up the mountain most of the way around the lake, the further we get away from Como although it begins to thin out and clear townships can be seen.
Menaggio is, like all the other towns, a holiday destination and at this time of year most of the places are closed. We find somewhere to have lunch and then spend the afternoon wandering through the alleyways ...

We arrived in this beautiful city at dusk so we weren't able to get the most out of it. Stayed there only for one hour and we spent that time in Parco Civico capturing the flickering lights of the city surrounded by mountains. The view from the shores of Lake Lugano was fascinating. It's truly a must-visit city and I'd love to go back and see it in broad daylight. ...

... of driving to do, so I needed the break. Topped up the engine oil and headed off again.
It looked like I would be able to make it to Lago Maggiore before dinner time, get some snacks and drinks and go for a cruise along the lake shore.


From Asti I got on to the A21 and the A26 North to Veruno where I got on the SS32 which took me to the Southern part of Lake Maggiore. I followed the West side of the lake ...

... luck in the small villages along the Fiume Adda. But after about 10 Km I saw a small garage that looked open so I stopped.
The guy didn't speak english but we managed with hand signals pointing and showing him that I wanted 10W40. I needed a new speedo cable as well, but he didn't have any for an old Japanese bike. Fair enough, I know roughly how fast I am going.

... so excited and can't help but make friends with them and give them lots of cuddles! One of my favorite things about Europe is definitely how welcoming and friendly they are to animals, especially dogs. Dogs are welcome everywhere. Stores, cafés, restaurants, trains and planes and beaches! I love it! At home there are very few places that I can take the dogs and very few beaches that are dog friendly, which if you ask me is insane. Dogs don't do half ...
