... we were too early so Leanne wanted ice cream so we went and she had an ice cream and then by this time it was close to show time. We headed to the theatre to see 'This is It - the Michael Jackson movie'. We sat down to wait for the movie to start when we realized another feature of the european movie theatre...they sell alcohol! The movie was awesome...but half way through we experienced more European craziness...they have INTERMISSION!! Like ...
Lucerne, Lucerne, Switzerland kkb-myadventure... were full of Japanese buying label goods, with Swiss watches being popular. We also came across 2 chocolate shops but decided to look for a cafe to have coffee and icecream.
Interlaken is a very pretty town and the river running through it is a glacial blue colour. I decided that as I had not been able to find my gloves (not sure if I had lost them or just left them at home), maybe I should buy some at a sports store. I ended up buying ...
... 6-10 above us and falls 1-5 below.
We came to fall number 6 first and it was amazing! These falls are literally in the middle of the mountain and have all the water from the glaciers in the surrounding mountains running through them! They twist and turn and kind of look like some kind of extreme waterslide! The water is so powerful and I have never seen such a large volume of water flowing at such and extreme pace. It was kind of scary, you definitely didn’t want to ...
... threw us down and then a 15 foot drop into the water.
We finished with a bunch of smaller slides.
After we were done that had a little picnic for us. The scenery was spectacular. The mountains are beautiful. It almost looks fake!!
After canyoning I came back to Interlaken, I wandered around the city. There wasn't much to see except for in the main central park. I sat and watch tons of paragliders land ...
... by the bus company to sell those expensive tickets.
So now we come to the second choice of blog title. Twice a year the cows are moved. In the fall they come home from the Alpine pastures and in Spring they return….bells and all!
We just happened to be here at the time the herd is returning. This is a very big deal here. Last night, during dinner, there was a terrible clatter as the first group (we’d seen) headed up the road with bells on. The lead ...
... in the run back to the station. After a 3 hour wait in Milan we caught another train, which we thought went straight to Spiez in Switzerland (48€ each, dep 18.25), however once aboard we found out that we had to change at the Swiss border. From Spiez we caught yet another train, this time only a 30 minute wait, to get to Interlaken (13€ together, one an hour), arriving at 10 in the evening. Oh good arriving at night yet ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland dinoshona... our 3 coutries in one day fiasco! Liechtenstein is the smallest country in Europe! After lunch- we headed off to AUSTRIA! Midway Petey Pablo surprised us once AGAIN- He made a few calls and managed to get us into the Swarovski factory after closing hours so it was exclusively open for us!! Talk about BLING BLING! I decided to buy my mom birthday present here and ended up getting her some real beautiful jewelry a necklace and a pair of earrings as ...
Lucern, Switzerland laurascontiki... even after waiting an extra hour our train didn't have heat. It was worth it, though, since we drove through the beautiful snowy countryside (5). After several hours of train confusion, we arrived in Interlaken Saturday night. It's a really pretty town in the Alps, situated in a valley between two lakes. There's only one main street and a couple residential areas surrounded by huge, rocky, snowy mountains (town, 6, mountains, 8). It was ...
Interlaken, Switzerland voyageuse... in a similar manner as C-Span. The security of the Parliment is ridiculously tight. They have vistors come through a side entrance and have all of their bags and personal items checked into lockers. The only thing we were allowed to carry in was our passports. Kassahun couldn't even rbing his camera in to capture the amazing archetiture. After being checked by the guards, our group was divided in twos and threes to be slowly funneled into the building. One ...
