Hotel-Garni Bulligan Lindau

We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.

We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!

So yeah, continuing form the last post, we drove through Switzerland, and even made a stop in Liechenstein hahaha... We went to Vaduz, the capital, which is literally a quick right turn outside of Switzerland. We hung out for a bit and checke dout a couple ...

... can watch all the processes they go through to make the cheese, which was pretty interesting! We watched the cheese-makers go through all the processes for quite a while and had a drink at in the restaurant before going back to Gossau for an authentic cheese Fondue!

We got up early the next morning and said goodbye to Heinz and Elsa, and caught our 1st train to get to Prague. It took us about 10.5 hours to get there.. LOOOOOONG time sitting on trains!!

Our third stop of the day was our first in Austria. Now I was entering undiscovered lands! Feldkirch is right on the Switzerland border. The old town centre is surrounded by towers, and a castle sits on a hill above.

... weren't too interested so they took Lincoln (who couldn't go with us) and we went to have a look. It was a rewarding visit. It is amazing to think how long ago some of those books and transcripts were written, and how well cared for they must be to remain in excellent condition. The library itself is breathtaking, with leather bound books lining the shelves, large windows (no doubt filtered), elaborate woodwork and staircases, and a muraled ceiling ...

... We didn't go to Eagles Nest, one of Hitler's homes because the lady at the hotel told us we weren't going to be able to see the view because of the clouds. They had several kinds of bread, cheese, ham, yogurt, cereals, oj, sweet rolls, and along with the jellies there was that wonderful chocolate for breakfast in Salzburg! We've enjoyed the drives so much...again, the green lush countryside with the yellow ...

... We tended to operate in English with a lot of German mixed in, but of course plenty of Russian and some French graced our communications. Once we finally starting checking out Lindau on Saturday morning, it was great. It was, however, super hot and sunny out, but I survived the weekend with only minor sunburns. Today we drove to Lindau, Germany, and did our own walking tour. Lindau is an island in the eastern part of Lake Constance. It was quite overcast, but still lovely. I'm sure that on a warm summer day it would be filled with people sitting in the sun and enjoying all the open air cafes.


Then we were off around the lake ...

... gorgeous and the views of it and from it are breathtaking.



After our tour we drove to Kempten and stayed at the Peterhof downtown. This was our first room with a tv...all German stations, of course!
