... full experience of the drag lifts, and getting a free ride down the chair lift! Tracy didn't know how to ski so I have her the quick run down before we headed down the hills! She got the hang of it pretty well and pretty soon she was flying down the hills! (literally, she couldn't always slow down) We had a really fun day though and only had issues with our skis once! There was snow or something packed into my boot or ski and I'm not kidding ...

... br> Only 60 euro for this rather large room with a view to die for. Looking out the window I can see the best road back down the pass which depending on tomorrow's route may or may not be my way out of here.

After unloading the bike I go off for a wander around the area and to find myself some food.

Finally I end up in a restaurant/bar and as I am in Italy (I think;-) I order Taglatelly with mushrooms. Well, if ever I had tasteless taglatelly and old ...

... br> The next day we took off north through the notorious Splugenpass...pretty views but I'm glad I wasn't driving!
Stopped to hike down the gorge at Viamala which has been carved out by the Rhein River. The next stop was Ruinaulta, where the Rhein flows below white carved cliffs. Our destination for the next two nights is another refugio, Alpenrosli, at St. Antonien. Christoph met up with us and his sister and family came the next day.

... misjudged the depth and strength of the waterfall (which I was photographing!) and fell in and couldn’t get out. Watching her trying to scramble up the sides of wet, slippery vertical rocks was terrible but she’s a determined so and so and kept going until she was close enough for me to be able to grab her collar! She was absolutely none the worse for her experience but I was so full of adrenaline for the next hour, I felt really sick! It was ...

      Wonderful Wildspitze

A travel blog entry by rolandandlinda on Aug 28, 2014

      Thursday 28 August

Moved on this morning, up the Pitztal valley, just south
of Imst. Went up to the Pitztal glacier, taking the Glacier Express(tunnel
train) followed Tyrol’s highest cable car to the restaurant at 3,440m, near the
top of the Wildspitze (3,774m). Perfect weather for a day in the snow – blue
      skies and no wind.

Staying near Jerzens tonight. Had a great evening meal at
      the campsite restaurant ...
