We are still docked on the Moselle in Bernkastel, Germany. But our tour bus is driving up to Trier, in the same direction as Luxembourg. Trier is supposed to be the oldest German city. It dates back to the year Christ was born. We see the Roman bridge which dates back to 44 AD. Evidently the Romans wanted to have the same comforts here in Trier as in Rome. So they also built an amphitheater, there are three Roman baths. They did not have a hot spring, but they had a hot water ...

... most popular wine here is the Riesling. The reason they grow the grapes on the steep hills in a vertical fashion is to get the most out of the environment here. The slate in the soil which creates some warmth keeps the grapes in this area within a micro climate that lets them get its best wines. So we all head to Senheim to the Schlagkamp Winery and museum. ... who fought in the Battle of the Bulge are buried here. The Superintendent of the Cemetery discussed the battle using maps of the battle. After we walked through the cemetery and visited George Patton's grave. As we walked into the Chapel taps was played then the Star Spangled Banner. It was such a moving and emotional visit. We then stopped at the German cemetery that America built for the Germans who fought in the battle. It is maintained by Germany ...

I finally had schnitzel, pommes (fries) and salad (schni-po-sa to Isabell) and Taylor had an interesting dish that combines blood sausage with potatoes and you put it on bread to eat it.
