We sat down at the stage and some local theatre group came on to do a German interpretation on the Mad Hatter's tea party from Alice in Wonderland. It was a bit 'Dinner for One' in the fact that they repeated a lot of the lines for effect, which was good at first but then got a bit tiring after 5 times. Just to give you an idea I can still remember the dialogue:

... are ownerless, as long as they are in the open. Wild animals in zoos and fish in ponds or other enclosed private waters are not ownerless. Should a caged wild animal obtain freedom again, it will be considered abandoned if the owner does not decide to go immediately after the animal or if he gives up the chase. A domesticated animal is considered abandoned if it gives up the habit of returning to his appointed place.

They had a great time and the next day there was enough snow for them in the backyard to play with. I went around and took a few photos around Edingen because we didn't get any snow at all last year. It was definitely cool to see, but by New Year's Eve it already started melting again!

Happy New Year everyone.

We return later than usual to the ship, at 1:30. We have late lunch, hang out a bit and then I con Mom into walking into town to see the market. It's late afternoon and she wants to sleep but I convince her that she can sleep tomorrow. We walk along the Rhine river for close to a mile to reach the town. It's a pleasant walk. ...

A medieval castle

... needed without having to think about it.

Underneath the castle, there was a cellar full of massive wine barrels. The one in the photo is actually the small one; the big one was so huge that four people could have stood on each other's shoulders and the barrel still would have been taller. We got to walk up some stairs and stand on top of the barrel, which was very fun.
